Hearing aids have very few moving parts. But even digital components may experience wear or a buildup of earwax over time. If you ever have a problem with your hearing aids, bring them to Two Rivers Hearing. We perform warranty and out-of-warranty repairs. Even if you didn’t buy your hearing aids from us, we may be able to repair them. We perform hearing aid repairs for seasonal residents of the Space Coast each year.
Troubleshooting hearing aid problems
If you turn your hearing aids on and there’s no sound, you may need to change or recharge the batteries. First, ensure the battery door is firmly closed and the hearing aid is turned on and set to the proper program. If the hearing aid still doesn’t operate, change the batteries. If this doesn’t resolve the problem, call Two Rivers Hearing. Our audiologist can assess the problem to determine what type of repair is necessary.
If your hearing aid turns on, but the sound is distorted, check and make sure the hearing aid is on the right setting. If you wear behind-the-ear (BTE) hearing aids, the tubing or wax guard may need to be changed. Two Rivers Hearing can make most of these minor repairs while you wait.
Anytime you feel your hearing aids aren’t working properly, call Two Rivers Hearing. With remote hearing care services, we may be able to adjust your hearing aids without a trip to the office. And if you do need to come in, we make many repairs on-site.
If your hearing aids must be returned to the manufacturer for repair, Two Rivers Hearing will take care of the return and provide a loaner hearing aid while you wait for repairs.
Hearing aid repairs
Did you buy your hearing aids at one of those big box stores and can’t get service? Do you live out of town for part of the year? Even if you are not a current patient at Two Rivers Hearing, our audiologist may still be able to repair your hearing aids.
We perform hearing aid repairs for most major manufacturers and will let you know if you have a brand we service. When you buy your hearing aids from Two Rivers Hearing, your devices are covered by a warranty. But even if you purchased your devices elsewhere, we still may be able to help.
If your hearing aids are out of warranty, we can give you an estimate for the repair and discuss your options. Many repairs are not costly, and we give you an estimate before the work is done.
If your hearing aids are severely damaged, we can discuss your options for repair or replacement. We work with you to determine what course of action best meets your current needs.
Hearing aid maintenance
During your hearing aid fitting, the audiologist will show you how to perform routine maintenance on your hearing aids. Daily maintenance helps keep your hearing aids in good working order.
Because hearing aids are electrical, it’s important to keep them dry. Even water-resistant hearing aids should not be worn in the shower, bath or while swimming. A drying box can remove excess moisture and provides a great place to store your hearing aids overnight.
If your hearing aids use replaceable batteries, store the devices in the off position and remove the batteries each night. This prolongs the life of the battery and helps keep your hearing aids dry. Bring your hearing aids into Two Rivers Hearing at least twice a year for professional cleaning. The audiologist can deep clean your devices and help maximize the life of your hearing aids.
